Welcome to the official web site of
ECHOES OFF THE RIVER,
the annual marching band competition hosted by the Alton High School Marching 100 and the Alton Band and Orchestra Builders.

Because of the continued efforts of our supporters and outstanding performances by our participating bands, Echoes Off The River has grown to become one of the premiere high school marching competitions in the Bi-state area. Since our first competition in 1985, Echoes has been held at beautiful Public School Stadium at West Elementary School on State Street in historic Alton, IL. Participating bands compete in three classes based on the number of musicians in the band. Trophies are awarded for the top three bands in each class, as well as caption awards for best Auxiliary, best Percussion, best Drum Major, best Marching, and best Music. Additional trophies are awarded for Best Illinois Band and Best Out-of-State Band, and the band with the highest total score will be awarded the Echoes Off the River “Grand Champion” trophy.
The Alton High School “Marching 100”, under the direction of Matthew H. Lang and Matt Banks, continues to enjoy success and generous community support. The many fund raising activities throughout the year sponsored by the “100” and the Alton Band and Orchestra Builders go directly to the ABOB general fund.
